What happens on a rehearsal night?

Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings, in school term time, in a spacious and comfortable room at Our Lady’s Roman Catholic Church, Gale Lane, Acomb, York.  Access is by the back door from the car park at the rear of the church.

The first of the ladies start to arrive at about 7.00pm to get the room ready and prepare for the interval drinks. As more members arrive the room starts to buzz with conversations. At 7.30pm the ladies take their seats and Margaret begins with some ‘warm-up’ exercises before working at a variety of concert music.  There are many laughs and light hearted moments as the real work gets underway and members are taken through their parts and the pieces are built up to performance level.  By half time there is a need for a cuppa and a chat before settling down to the second half.  By 9.30pm, at the end of the rehearsal, everyone takes great pleasure in realising just what has been achieved and, what’s more, they have really enjoyed it. Long serving and new members alike see just how much pleasure there is in working together to prepare music for performances. Where else can you get two hours of professional tuition and so much enjoyment for less than £4 a rehearsal?

Are you interested in joining the choir?  If so, please contact Carol Brown whose details are on the ‘Contact Us’ page.  You’ll be given a warm welcome and soon realise what a great thrill it is to sing with a choir and that this will be the beginnings of a most enjoyable interest.  Within a short time you will be ready for the thrill and experience of singing in your first concert with ‘In Harmony’.
