Registered Charity No. 502350

‘In Harmony’ was formed in January 2013 with Margaret Garvey as Musical Director.  It is a ladies’ community choir based in Acomb.

The choir has performed in a variety of venues in and around York including Our Lady’s Church in Acomb; Bishop Wilton Community Hall; St. John’s Church, Moor Allerton, Leeds; St. Mary’s Parish Church, South Milford; Dunnington Reading Rooms and various residential care homes in York.

The choir has performed to raise money for local charities namely, York Blind and Partially Sighted Society and York Samaritans.

Newcomers are made very welcome and will find that rehearsals are held in a warm and friendly atmosphere under Margaret’s direction. Prospective new members may be pleased to know that there is no audition required and that an ability to read music, though an advantage, is not an essential part of joining.  The repertoire consists of music to please all tastes and includes classical pieces from as early as Purcell and Handel, arrangements of well-loved songs and ballads, through to songs from the shows - a feast for both choir and audience.

New members are always made very welcome.
